Our Outdoor Education Program is designed to provide immersive learning experiences within the Birchwood Trails. The program blends educational content with outdoor adventure through hands-on learning, fostering exploration and a connection with nature. Students will gain an understanding of traditional herbs and vegetation, as well as the general biomes present in the area. A key component of the program involves exposure to Indigenous outdoor learning, which is deeply rooted in land-based education, cultural teachings, and traditional knowledge.
These activities will be led by outdoor educators, First Nations elders and Knowledge Keepers, and camp guides. Through their guidance, students will explore nature through an Indigenous worldview. In addition, they develop social and communication skills, learn about environmental stewardship, and participate in outdoor adventure activities.
